Our mission is simple: to make sex and relationship talks easier — and more empowering — for families of young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
About
At ReadyParent, we understand how challenging it can be to navigate conversations about sex, relationships, and safety with your child — especially when your child has a neurodevelopmental disability.
Many parents want to protect their child from harm while also respecting their right to develop sexual autonomy and a healthy sense of self. This is a delicate balance. Research shows that families are often left without the resources they need to talk openly about sexuality in a way that is safe, positive, and tailored to their child’s needs.
ReadyParent exists to bridge this gap.
Our goal is to give families the tools, knowledge, and confidence to have meaningful, age-appropriate conversations about sexuality, relationships, and safety. We take a holistic approach, recognising that sexual health is shaped not just by biology, but also by social learning, emotional wellbeing, family support, and cultural values.
We know these conversations can feel daunting — especially when many parents never received comprehensive or inclusive sex education themselves. Today’s families are also navigating new challenges, like online safety, digital pornography, and shifting cultural understandings of consent. That’s why ReadyParent creates resources that are:
Accessible – clear language, visual supports, and neurodivergent-friendly formats
Inclusive – celebrating diversity in sexuality, gender, and bodies
Evidence-based – grounded in up-to-date, peer-reviewed research
Family-focused – designed to build trust and connection between you and your child
